DO NOT DOWNLOAD ANY FILE NAMED PKZIP300 REGARDLESS OF EXTENSION. A NEW Trojan Horse Virus has emerged on the Internet with the name PKZIP300.ZIP, so named as to give the impression that this file is a new version of the PKZIP software used to "zip" compressed files DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS FILE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!! If you install or expand the file, the virus WILL wipe your hard disk clean and affect modems at 14.4 and higher. This is an extremely destructive virus & there is NOT yet a way of cleaning this one up. PLEASE PASS THIS ON TO ANYONE YOU KNOW.

A Virus has been discovered on Internet that is disguised as CD-ROM shareware.

Unknown hackers have illegally put the Chinon name on a destructive shareware file and released it on the Internet. This catastrophic virus is named "CD-IT". -- DO NOT DOWNLOAD. IT WILL CORRUPT YOUR HARD DRIVE. The program, allegedly a shareware PC utility that will convert an ordinary CD-ROM drive into a CD-Recordable (CD-R) device, which is technically impossible, instead destroys critical system files on a user's hard drive. The program also immediately crashes the CPU, forces the user to reboot and stays in memory.

A virus is circulating on the Internet. If you receive a message with the header "xxx-1" DO NOT READ IT. Delete immediately or your disk will require treatment by a virus-scanner. I have had two copies of this message this morning (Sunday) already, but was warned by an early morning phone call from a friend who got hit.

Run Word and open the Tools/Macro menu. If you see a macro named AAAZFS on the list, you're infected. For further information, refer to the FIX section below.

We recommend you download the Winword.concept Virus Checking Macro ftp://ftp.ncsa.com/pub/virus/docs/wvfix.zip. This will this document will prompt you before performing the checking and removal of the Winword.concept virus. In addition, a permanent macro can be added to your document that not only prevents you from becoming re-infected, it will check all documents for the infection when you close them. If you install the permanent macro, it will check all documents for the infection as you close them. If the infection is found, it will be removed and the document saved automatically. A message box will display to inform you that the document was infected. It is recommended that you install the automatic protection. Not only will it prevent you from becoming infected, or re-infected, it will eliminate the possibility that you pass on an infected document to another user who may not be protected.
